Ko Au, Ko Au

The whole school is learning the waiata "Ko Au, Ko Au" which can be found in the Hei Waiata, Hei Whakakoakoa(Ministry of Education, Learning Media Publication).

Ko au, ko au tēnei        (This is me)

Ko koe, ko koe tēnā     (That is you near)

Ko ia, ko ia tērā            (That is he/she/him/her over there)

Kei te mahi, ngā mahi  (Busy working)

The language learning from this waiata and the appropriate actions are supporting the meaning of the words.  

It is a great way to learn pronoun vocabulary.  (au, koe, ia)

They are taking the sentence structure from this waiata and explaining the various members of their whānau from a photograph or drawing.
