Whakanuia Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2013

The theme for Māori Language Week 2013 is:
Ngā Ingoa Māori: Māori names

Arohatia te Reo remains the tāhuhu, the base for MLW, however the ‘ingoa’ theme asks communities to consider important matters such as correct pronunciation, understanding the meaning of place-names, and using Māori names more often.

Our school will be starting each day this week in the hall immediately after the class roll to share karakia and a waiata.

Ms Neill has lunchtime activities in her room with great prizes to be won. eg Te Reo Quizzes, Homai Te PakiPaki(Karaoke)

Matua Jerome Kavanagh is visiting our school to do a workshop with our students on Tuesday.  We will be having a Mihi Whakatau to welcome him to our school at 9:05am.

The Senior Kapa Haka group are picking watercress on Wednesday as they are cooking a boil-up and Māori bread on Thursday.  They will be sharing the Māori bread with the Junior Kapa Haka group after lunch on Thursday.

The various syndicates are doing separate activities during the week also.

Kia pai tō wiki koutou!
