He Waiata Hou - A New Song HE HONORE

HE HONORE                                          HONOUR

He honore he kororia                              Honour, glory

Maungarongo ki te whenua                   Peace on Earth

Whakaaro pai e                                       Goodwill

Ki ngā tangata katoa                              To all peoples

Ake, ake, ake , ake                                  For ever and ever, for ever and ever

Amine                                                       Amen

Te Atua, te piringa                                  The Lord, the shelter

Toku oranga                                             My existence.

Thank you to Room C for their wonderful effort!

This is a stately, serious and beautiful himene (hymn) and, as such, it should be sung solemnly, with dignity and concentration. The words are a translation of the benediction of Luke in the New Testament.
This waiata can be used as a whakatauki (proverb), in whaikorero (speeches) or as a karakia (prayer) introducing a speech. In a concert, it could be the choral piece introducing the main performance, or it could be used  to start the day in a classroom or bring calmness at the end of the afternoon.

“He Honore” is a concept that implies the idea of respect for others and for different cultures.
